Bourbon and Bluegrass - 2013 MADC Convention - Louisville, Kentucky

2013 MADC Convention Louisville, KY

June 26-29, 2013

It seems like we just left each other in Albuquerque.  What a wonderful time we had!  Georgia Shields and her team gave us a wonderful convention that we will never forget.  Our gratitude goes to Georgia, her Convention team and all of you who made our time together in Albuquerque so very special.  Believe it or not, it is time to talk about our upcoming trip to Louisville, Kentucky.  I know many of you have registered for the 2013 Louisville Convention already and we so appreciate your registering early.  We would like to encourage everyone to get registered as soon as possible so that we can keep you informed of the latest plans for our trip to Louisville.  You simply will not want to miss the 2013 Louisville Convention!

The Louisville Convention will take place at the Louisville Marriott Downtown.  It is a very up-to-date hotel in the perfect location for an eventful trip to Louisville.  The Marriott is an official stop on The Bourbon Trail and outside its doors is a free trolley that will take you to all of the sites around the beautiful city of Louisville.  One block from the Marriott is the Fourth Street Live entertainment district where you will find music, restaurants, and shops for your enjoyment.  You won’t be able to resist all that Louisville has to offer!

2013 MADC Convention Paddleboats in Louisville Louisville is located on the banks of the Ohio River across from Indiana.  There are two working paddlewheel riverboats for you to enjoy on the riverfront.
Louisville, the largest city in Kentucky, is the site of the largest number of preserved Victorian homes anywhere in our country, the home of the Louisville Slugger Factory and Museum, the Frazier Military History Museum, and the Louisville Glassworks, just to name a few.

And, of course, we can’t forget Churchill Downs
and the Kentucky Derby Museum.
The horses will be “running” while we are in Louisville.
So if you’ve always wanted to see a horserace
at Churchill Downs—here’s your chance!

BUT the most important thing about Louisville next June is that all our MADC friends will be there!  And so will our dear dolls, Wendy, Maggie, Cissette, Lissy, and Cissy.  All the events are planned, the event chairs are very busy with the details of their events, and we have been working with the Alexander designers, who have created beautiful dolls for us.  Yes, we have already seen a few of the prototypes!  We just can’t wait for you to see them!  You will definitely want them all for your collections.

A Few Secrets To Share:
Kathi Holmes will be planning spectacular tours again!  Johnnie Benson will be taking us On The Bourbon Trail in our pre-convention event so plan to be in Louisville on Wednesday evening for the fun.  Be sure to get your invitations to have Tea With Cissy from Michael Mancini and to Birthday Celebrations with Lissy from Barbara Arnold.  Cissette has gotten mixed up with Notorious Kentucky Women and Margie Hottensen wants you to be there to support Cissette.  Pat Jahnke is joining Wendy for a very special Cherokee Naming Ceremony that is not to be missed.

And one more secret to let you in on—the Travel Doll Luncheon will go back to its original format.  Bring your travel doll and she will receive a new outfit and maybe a special favor or two.  It will be a fun time of sharing our dolls with each other and “playing dolls” like we all love to do.  Charlotte and Erin Ort will be supervising playtime!

We have lots more secrets to let you in on in the months to come.  There will be more events, special dolls, special seminars and workshops to tell you about.  As always, convention registrations are limited so please don’t delay!  We don’t want you to miss out on a thing!  Please come play dolls with us in Louisville next June.  If you’re not there, we will miss you terribly.  I think we all agree that it is our friendship with each other that makes our MADC Conventions so very special.  So we’ll look forward to seeing you in Louisville!

Sincerely,
Mary Ann Duffield and Judy Wright
